Water Access Alerts

Oct. 6, 2022 - To ensure the safety of the public, a number of the access areas and facilities at Lake Wateree will be closed starting Tuesday, Nov. 1. The closures are required due to the lake drawdown associated with the Wateree Dam upgrade project. Projected lake levels will result in ramp conditions that will not be conducive to launching motorized watercraft at the following sites:

  • Cedar Creek Access Area - boat ramps only
  • Wateree Creek Access Area Boat Landing
  • Taylors Creek Access Area
  • June Creek Access Area
  • Colonels Creek Access Area - boat ramps and swimming beach only
  • Buck Hill Access Area

The following sites and amenities will be OPEN unless otherwise specified during the project:

  • Cedar Creek Access Area Bank Fishing
  • Wateree Creek Access Area Fishing Pier
  • Molly Creek Access Area (entire site)
  • White Oak Access Area (entire site)
  • Lugoff Access Area (entire site)
  • Colonels Creek Access Area Picnic and Restroom Facilities (2/2023)

Please plan accordingly and expect these sites to be closed for the duration of the project until approximately March of 2024 (14-16 months). Duke Energy will be evaluating conditions and making repairs to these sites during the closure. The website and app will be updated as conditions change.

Duke Energy Swim Beaches

  • Molly Creek Access Area - Lake Wateree, S.C. - The swim beach at the Molly Creek Access Area will close for the season on Sept. 7, 2022.
